A Clear Explanation Of Faith

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for”
Hebrews 11:1

The author of Hebrews gives us a clear explanation of what faith is. It is the assurance of things hoped for. It is the basis by which we can see God and exercise hope in Him. What are the things that we can hope for? We hope in the salvation that we have through the Lord Jesus. God wants to relate to us as Father. We have the Lord Jesus as our mediator even as we pray. We can boldly come before God’s throne of grace to find help in times of need. We have a heavenly home where we can live eternally. These are some of the truths that we can hope in and be fully assured of. Young people, do you possess such a faith in God?

Starting With A Simple Faith

“For without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:6

What is it that God is looking for with reference to faith? He wants us to start somewhere. Faith is something that we can cultivate. We can start with small steps of faith. Let’s begin by coming to the Lord with a simple faith.

1. A Simple Faith That Believes That He Is

As we come to the Lord, let’s just believe in Him for who He is. The Lord is all that He says He is in the Bible. He is an omnipresent, omnipotent, omniscient God. Let’s begin by exercising simple faith in Him. Let’s believe that He is the self-existing, eternal and almighty God.

2. A Simple Faith That Will Diligently Seek Him

Furthermore, as we seek the Lord, let’s also diligently seek Him. God wants us to seek Him in prayer. Let’s exercise simple faith in turning to Him each day. When our faith in God is expressed in daily humble dependence, He is pleased. He will specially reward and bless us. Let’s seek Him even more.
