Fighting Against Spiritual Blindness

Winning the souls of men is no easy thing. It is a conflict that is made so much harder because of the spiritual blindness in the hearts of men.

“But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe”
2 Corinthians 4:3-4

Cunningly, the god of this age (Satan) has cast a spiritual veil over those who are perishing. He has caused the minds of these people to be spiritually blind to the truth so that they will not believe. It is not easy for people to move away from this state of spiritual blindness.

Not Losing Heart When People Do Not Respond

“Therefore, since we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we do not lose heart.”
2 Corinthians 4:1

When people do not respond to our witnessing, we can end up feeling discouraged. We can lose our motivation to share the gospel. Despair can even set in with regards to situations where we have been trying to win our loved ones and friends for a long time. Let’s not be discouraged. The Lord has given us a great ministry to reach out to people. Since we have received mercy, let’s not lose heart.

Appreciating The Power Of The Light Of The Gospel

“For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
2 Corinthians 4:6

From the beginning of time, it was God who commanded light to shine when there was only darkness. In the same way, it is the Lord who has shone the light of the glory of God within our hearts. And we responded to God by having faith in Jesus. It is when we preach the gospel that this light will shine in people’s hearts. Let’s truly appreciate how the Lord has given this light when there was once only darkness within our hearts.

Reaching Out For Christ’s Sake

“For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake.”
2 Corinthians 4:5

Ultimately, reaching out to people should not be based on whether people respond or not. It should be for Christ’s sake. The Lord Jesus has given us mercy and the gift of salvation. He paid a great price for our faith. Let’s spare no effort in preaching the Lord Jesus to our non-Christian friends. Let’s be obedient to the Lord’s commission to reach the world. Let’s endeavour to reach out for His sake no matter what.
