THANK GOD FOR THE WORD OF GOD PREACHED IN 2021

As we come to the end of 2021, one thing that I truly thank God for is the Word of God. The Scriptures have been preached and taught at the Youth worship service and the recent Youth Worship Special. There have been so many lessons that have encouraged our hearts and have challenged us to have faith even as we cope with the demands of school and life. Thus, it is good for us as we end the year to attempt a personal evaluation of the Word of God in relation to our lives. What definite results has the Word of God brought about within us? Let’s take some time to honestly check our lives with regards to the lessons learnt from His word.

TAKING TIME TO EVALUATE OUR LIFE WITH REFERENCE TO THE WORD OF GOD

Psalm 19 was one of those passages that Pastor taught from during the Youth Worship Special. Let’s take time to evaluate our lives based on what we have learnt from Psalm 19.

1. EVALUATING OUR PERSONAL REGARD FOR THE WORD OF GOD

David had the highest regard for the Word of God. As he went through life, he was able to discover how glorious the Word of God is. He saw it as flawless, steadfast, totally accurate and true (Psalm 19:7-9). The Scriptures are totally dependable and timeless. David discovered much about God and the principles of life through knowing the Holy Scriptures.

It is good for us to evaluate our own regard for the Scriptures. Do we treat the Word of God with much respect? Do we exercise faith in it? Do we spend time reading it? Young people, let’s check carefully our regard for the precious word of God that has been given to us.

2. EVALUATING THE LEVEL OF IMPACT OF THE WORD OF GOD IN OUR LIVES

The second thing that we should evaluate is the impact of the Word of God in our life. David delineated how the Word of God can have a lasting impact on our minds, hearts and lives. The Scriptures can bring about a transformation of the soul (Psalm 19:7-9). It can bring about a lasting cleansing effect. The Word of God can bring continuing rejoicing to the heart. Lessons learnt from the Scriptures can bring enlightenment to our lives. The Word can bring about a profound effect on our lives.

Young people, let’s evaluate how the Word of God has impacted our life this year. Is there a change in our attitude and our perspective in life? Is there a greater sense of faith and hope in God? Let’s check whether there are lasting changes in our lives.

3. EVALUATING THE PERSISTENT SINS IN OUR LIVES

David saw how wondrous and perfect the Word of God is. And yet when he honestly evaluated his life with regards to the Word of God, he saw how sinful he was. In his prayer (Psalm 19:12-13), he recognised how there were persistent secret sins in his life. He saw how there were presumptuous sins that he had done against the Lord. He confessed his sins before God and sought His cleansing.

Let’s also honestly look at the sins in our lives. Are there secret faults still lurking within us? Have we continued to presumptuously sin against God? As we enter into 2022, let’s confess our sins before the Lord and seek Him for His cleansing. Let’s pray that the meditation of our minds and our hearts would be on the Word of God and that they would be acceptable to Him (Psalm 19:14). Let’s learn to pray that the Word of God can make a deeper impact in our lives in 2022.
