Taking Time To Reflect

Taking time to reflect is a worthwhile discipline. It enables us to make time to remember, to review and to contemplate what God has done for us. How easy it is for us to forget what has transpired over the last six months! Sometimes, we are so caught up with activities that we do not take time to reflect. Young people, let’s make time to reflect on the Lord’s hand in our lives.

Pondering The Works Of God

When the Psalmist took time to ponder, he focused on the works of God.

1. Enjoying The Greatness Of God’s Works

“O Lord, how great are Your works!”
Psalm 92:5

As the Psalmist contemplated the works of God, he was able to appreciate their greatness. Truly, there is no one greater than our God. His works are very great. Young people, we must learn to appreciate the greatness of God’s work in Bethany and in our lives.

2. Understanding God’s Deep Thoughts Behind His Works

“Your thoughts are very deep.
A senseless man does not know,

Nor does a fool understand this.”

Psalm 92:5-6

Behind the works of God are His thoughts. God’s thoughts involved in His works are greatly profound. A fool cannot understand the depths of His thoughts. The Psalmist was able to understand that God’s lovingkindness and faithfulness were involved in His works. It is indeed a great privilege to be able to understand God’s profound ideas.

Deep Personal Responses To God

When we reflect on the Lord and His work, there should also come deep personal responses. Firstly, our souls should be full of gladness.

“For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work;
I will triumph in the works of Your hands.”

Psalm 92:4

The Lord makes us glad as we think about the works of His hands. We become deeply elated over God’s distinct involvement in our lives.

Secondly, there should be thanksgiving and praise to God

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High”

Psalm 92:1

When there is appreciation, we will naturally turn to the Lord with thanksgiving and praise.

Thirdly, there should be further response of extolling the attributes of God.

“To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
And Your faithfulness every night”

Psalm 92:2

There should come that personal determination to speak of the Lord’s love and faithfulness. Young people, let’s learn what it means to have deep responses to God as we reflect over His works. Let’s truly glorify Him for what He has done for us.
