Thanking God For A Great Church Anniversary

My heart was filled with thanksgiving as we celebrated our Church anniversary last Sunday. It was wonderful to see the Lord’s name being lifted up through what was done. Whether it was the static display, the booklet of testimonies and poems, the video on Pei Yong or the lunchtime song items, many of you have put in lots of effort to make this anniversary memorable and it has been. Truly, you were able to testify of the Lord’s strength and I praise God for it. We are glad to see how the word of God has continued to work in the hearts of many of you. It speaks of your faith in the Lord and indeed His name was lifted up at our anniversary. For this, I am deeply thankful to God for His blessings.

Remember That We Are Strong

“I have written to you, young men,
Because you are strong”

1 John 2:14

Strength is a gift from God. It is something that God has placed within us when He created us. It is also something that we can cultivate further and develop till we can see its fullness. The apostle John wrote of how he had written to those who were young people because they were strong. The word “Strong” in the Greek means to be strong not just for the moment but to be in a state of strength and power. John was rejoicing in this wonderful truth that young people can be strong against the spiritual darkness that was prevalent in the world. They can be strong against the false teachings that eroded spiritual circles. Young people, whatever we may be facing with reference to life and ministry, remember that God has already made us strong. Let’s remember to do our part to be strong in our faith.

Remember To Let The Word Of God Abide In You

“And the word of God abides in you”
1 John 2:14

John also wrote of how the core thing that makes Christians strong is the word of God. The word of God must remain in our mind and our heart. John had already written in his gospel of this “abiding” concept. In the text of John 15, Jesus challenged His disciples to abide in Him and in His word (John 15:7). The word of God is meant to remain within our hearts. It is meant to be internalized within us. Young people, let’s remember to memorize and reflect on the word of God until it is within us. The Lord will strengthen us as we abide in His word.

Remember To Have A Conquering Spirit

“And you have overcome the wicked one.”
1 John 2:14

There is tremendous power within us when the word of God becomes part of us. It gives us the power to prevail and defeat the attacks of the evil one. The Lord Jesus had already defeated the evil one through His victorious resurrection from the dead. Satan is fighting a losing battle. Let’s remember always to have a conquering spirit because it is Christ who gives us the victory. Let’s seek to make a stand against the evil one with the power of our faith and the power of His word. May our hearts be challenged to live victorious lives.
