Thanking God For The Word Sown During Junior Camp

We thank God for the word of God shared during Junior Camp 2012. The light of the gospel and His word shone forth in so many different ways during this camp. It was explained through the chairing sessions and songs sung by the campers. It was proclaimed during the Bible study sessions. God’s word was also talked about during the vespers times with the kids. It was portrayed through the sketches at night. The Scriptures were also taught through the re-telling of the life of John Newton during the morning devotions by Pastor. Truly, the seed of the word of God was sown to the hearts of these children in these special ways.

Passing On Our Faith To The Next Generation

What makes us want to share the word in such a manner during Junior Camp? One main reason is because we want to pass on our faith in God to the next generation. We want them to possess the same precious faith that has been passed down to us through the centuries. We do not want to end up like in the days of Judges where everyone did what they wanted in their own sight, which is what is happening in the world today. We want to pass on important features of our faith to the next generation. What are some of them?

1. Having A Steadfast Faith In Only One God

“Hear O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one!”
Deuteronomy 6:4

All of us are meant to have faith in the only one true God. Our faith must be only in Him and in no other. It is easy to compromise our faith by turning to “idols” of the heart. Let’s have faith in God and God alone.

2. Loving The Lord With Everything We Got

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”
Deuteronomy 6:5

We are also meant to love the Lord whole-heartedly, with our whole being and with every ounce of strength that we have. God wants us to focus on loving Him above all things.

3. Placing Of God’s Word In Our Heart

“And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart.”
Deuteronomy 6:6

God also desires greatly that His word be placed in our heart. When we memorize the word of God and internalize it in our heart, the light of His word would be a guide to our life and we can make right decisions in life and ministry. Let’s seek to hide His word in our hearts.

For Our Good Always

“And the Lord commanded us to observe all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always”
Deuteronomy 6:24

Ultimately, these commandments are meant to help us fear the Lord our God so that it results in our good always. The Lord God has our good in mind. Let’s seek to observe them and to teach them to the next generation so that they too can observe them. This is for our good and the good of future generations.
