Never Go For “Easy Believism”

Some Churches today promote an overly simplistic approach to sharing the gospel. They preach a gospel whereby people can just say “I believe in Jesus” and they will be assured of a place in heaven. It does not matter whether they deal with the sins in their lives or not. This month, we will be focusing on sharing the gospel to non-believers. Let’s never go for the “easy believism” approach. Instead, let’s seek to learn to have a right and Biblical way of sharing the gospel.

Paul’s Excellent Model Of Sharing The Gospel

One of the best examples who shared the gospel well was the apostle Paul.

1. An In-Depth Study Of The Problem Of Sin

Paul wrote in the book of Romans of the problem of sin in one’s life. He explained how God was angry with the sins of man.

“For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men”
Romans 1:18

Despite knowing the wrath of God, people preferred to follow after uncleanness and vile passions. They choose to indulge in sin. Paul also explained that all men are sinful in the sight of God and they will face His judgment one day. He will judge the world of their sins.

2. An In-Depth Discussion Of Our Salvation

Paul also took time to discuss the salvation that God gives through the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus”
Romans 3:24

It is by His grace that we have been justified (to be declared righteous) freely. It is out of the love of God that Jesus was sent to this earth to die for us. We have redemption (bought with a price) through His blood. We will have the great privilege of being adopted as His children. The Lord will also give us the Holy Spirit. He will indwell us. Our part is to repent and to exercise faith in the Lord Jesus.

3. An In-Depth Teaching Of The Ramifications Of Faith

Last but not least, Paul spoke of the new life that we are meant to live.

“Even so we also should walk in newness of life.”
Romans 6:4

We are meant to have a new life in Christ where we will seek to live in righteousness. Sin will still be a part of our lives but we can now actively struggle against it with the help of the Spirit of God. Our challenge is to yield our lives to the will of God. There is so much to speak of with reference to our salvation in Christ. Let’s never “water down” the gospel. Let’s present the gospel with all its magnificence and glory. Let’s seek to share the gospel as best as we can during this gospel emphasis month.
