Looking Forward To Learning Much From God’s Word

Youth Conference 2008 is finally just around the corner! In a few days’ time, we wil begin our conference with an unprecedented number of more than 170 conferees. God willing, this is going to be a life changing time for many of us as we learn what it means to be strong Christians. The challenge for us is to come with a heart that is fully prepared to learn. We have been dealing with the topic of discipleship for the whole year at YPG. A true disciple will never stop learning. There is so much more that we can learn from the Scriptures. Let’s come with a heart that is ready to be instructed and be guided by His precious word. Let’s have an attitude that is humble enough to keep learning.

Don’t Be Bad Ground For The Word Of God

What kind of heart do you have in listening to the word of God? The way we listen to the word of God will ultimately determine how much the preached word will impact us. When our hearts are hardened, we cannot listen to the word and receive it well. Not only will the Bible lessons not impact us, the evil one will also come and make sure that the seed of God’s word is taken away (Mark 4:15). We must also be careful that we do not receive the word of God in a superficial manner. Without the word having deep roots within our hearts, trials can cause us to stumble and fall (Mark. 4:17). Furthermore, we can be so distracted by the things of the world that our lives remain fruitless (Mark 4:18-19). Young people, we must stop being bad ground for His word. Let’s prepare our hearts to respond well to His truths.

Determine To Be Good Ground For The Word Of God

“But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.”
Mark 4:20

Let’s determine within our hearts to be good ground for the Lord’s truths. Let’s not just hear what is preached with passive minds. Let’s also go the extra mile to fully understand what is being taught to us. Very often, we do not seek to understand the word of God as well as we should. Youth Conference 2008 is a time to ask all the questions that you want about being strong. Let’s seek to receive the truths of the Scriptures well and to treasure them. When we do this, in time, we will have fruitful lives.

The Challenge To Listen To The Word Of God Well

“He who has ears to hear, let him hear!”
Mark. 4:9

It may seem like an obvious statement to make and yet, the Lord Jesus had to state the obvious. If we have ears, we should hear well. Clearly, the people during the times of Jesus had ears, but they were not hearing what He was preaching. Let’s not be bad ground for the seed of His word. Let’s seek to hear and respond fully to the lessons from Scriptures during this Youth Conference. Let’s treasure what we will hear. When we do this, we will indeed be a strong and fruitful “tree” one day.
