The Call To Praise The Lord

“Praise the Lord!
Praise the name of the Lord;
Praise Him, O you servants of the Lord!”

Psalm 135:1

The Psalmist was obviously deeply moved and challenged to praise the Lord. He made a definite call to everyone, especially the servants of God, to lift up their voices and to give exuberant praise to Him. As we celebrate our Church anniversary next week, let’s also be deeply moved and encouraged to give honour and glory to the Lord as is due. We should look forward to lifting up the name of the Lord with all our hearts.

“Sing praises to His name, for it is pleasant.”
Psalm 135:3

Let’s plan to come and praise His name because God is pleased when we do so. It is pleasant to Him when His servants and His people praise Him with great joy.

The Consideration Of Strong Reasons To Praise God

What are some strong reasons we want to consider as we seek to praise God?

1. The Special Goodness Of The Lord To Bethany

“Praise the Lord, for the Lord is good…
For the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself,
Israel for His special treasure.”

Psalm 135:3, 4

The Lord has been truly good to Bethany. He has watched over Bethany these past 34 years. He has helped Bethany grow from strength to strength. It is what it is today because of the Lord’s goodness to us. Even as the Lord had chosen Israel for Himself and made it His special treasure, the Lord has also made us His special treasure. Truly, we have every reason to rejoice and praise Him.

2. The Surpassing Greatness Of The Lord

“For I know that the Lord is great,
And our Lord is above all gods.
Whatever the Lord pleases He does,
In heaven and in earth,
In the seas and in all deep places.
He causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth”

Psalm 135:5-7

We can also praise God simply because of who He is. He is a God who has unlimited and unrestrained power. He is God above all other gods (false gods). He has total prerogative to do what He pleases over all things. He controls all the elements of weather. We cannot help but praise God who has greatness that surpasses all things. Young people, let’s plan to come together on the 25th Aug 2007 to worship the Lord. Let’s rise up to the call to praise Him, for this is pleasant in His sight.
