Giving Thanks To God At Our 36th Church Anniversary

Finally, our 36th Church anniversary is here. We have been anticipating this day for a whole month. Truly, we want to give God all the glory and to worship Him with hearts of thanksgiving at our celebratory service. In the light of this, let’s consider the words of Psalm 105, which is a Psalm of thanksgiving to God. The Psalmist sought to give thanks to the Lord as he remembered His great works.

“Oh, give thanks to the Lord! Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!

Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;

Talk of all His wondrous works!

Glory in His holy name;

Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the Lord!

Seek the Lord and His strength”

Psalm 105:1-4

He began his psalm with a call to give thanks to the Lord. He exhorted his readers to respond to the Lord in a variety of ways as part of being thankful to Him. God has done so much for us these 36 years. Let’s respond to the Lord too in thanksgiving to Him. Let me highlight five ways we can do this.

1. Calling Upon His Name In Worship

Our focus at this Saturday’s anniversary celebration is God and God alone. Let’s come before Him, call upon His name and worship Him with thankful hearts.

2. Declaring His Deeds To People

As we worship the Lord, let’s declare to the people what He has done for us as a Church. We have a debt-free Church. We have a Church that is strong and growing. Let’s make known the things that God has done for us to all who will come.

3. Singing To The Lord With Thanksgiving

Let’s sing praises to the Lord with joyful hearts. I am really looking forward to a stirring time of singing to the Lord and lifting up His name. As we present our song items, let us sing with joy and with a big smile on our faces.

4. Talking To People About God And His Wondrous Works

As we fellowship over dinner, let’s not just to talk to our fellow Christian friends. It would be good for us to talk to new ones about God and His works. Let’s bear witness of the mercy and grace that God has showered on us.

5. Seeking The Lord And His Strength

It is the Lord who has given us strength and power to do His work these many years.

As we enter into our 37th year of ministry, let’s seek the Lord and His strength even more. May we seek His face forever more. Let’s truly have a great time of thanking and worshipping the Lord with all our heart this Saturday. Happy Anniversary!
