Worshipping The Lord With A Great Sense Of Joy

By now, most of us would have finished our exams and we are coming to the end of the school term. It would be good to take time to thank God for seeing us through yet another rigorous five months of school. Our hearts should be full of joy and we should reflect this in our worship of the Lord. The Psalmist made a call to worship the Lord with gladsome hearts.

“Oh come, let us sing to the Lord!
Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.”

Psalm 95:1

This was a call for the people to worship the Lord exuberantly and joyfully. The Lord had been their Rock of Salvation. They were to come before His presence with a spirit of thanksgiving. Let’s come before the Lord with a heart of joy and be ready to worship Him this weekend.

Reasons For Worshipping The Lord With Joy

What are the reasons for worshipping the Lord?

1. The Greatness Of God As King

“For the Lord is the great God,
And the great King above all gods.”

Psalm 95:3

What better adjective to be used of the Lord than the word “Great”? The Lord is truly a great God and King. There is no god like our God. He created the earth and the heavens. His greatness is unsearchable. God rules over all things and He is our eternal King. There is truly none like Him.

2. The Great Personal Relationship We Can Have With The Lord

“For He is our God,
And we are the people of His pasture,
And the sheep of His hand.”

Psalm 95:7

The Psalmist also recognised how God can relate to us in a personal way. He is seen as our great Shepherd and we are the sheep of His pasture. As God’s people, He would always bring us to His pasture, which is “green and peaceful”. He would always take care of us.

“He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.”

Psalm 23:2

We would always be under His care. Can we look back on these five months and say that the Lord has taken care of us? We should rejoice in the Lord that He is our Shepherd and He leads us.

Praising God With Joy At Youth Praise Night

Our second Youth Praise Night will be held on Friday, 8th June. The theme of the evening is “I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart”. Let’s come together and give joyful praise to the Lord as young people of Bethany. There is much that we can give thanks to God for. If any group would like to put up a joyful item of praise to God, please let me know soon. Let’s come together to rejoice in the Lord and offer our thankful praise to our God and King. He deserves nothing less than our joyful and whole-hearted praise.
