Praising The Lord From The Soul

Being part of God’s kingdom should bring new meaning to our celebration of Christmas. Many of us have come to recognise Christ as our King. We have come to appreciate the kingdom of God in a new light. Our response should be one of offering soul-felt worship to Him. Mary engaged her soul in magnifying the Lord.

“My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.”

Luke 1:46-47

Mary was praising the Lord from the depth of her soul. Her spirit was greatly rejoicing in God as her Saviour. How did Mary come to this?

1. Having A Soul Touched By The Word Of God

“Let it be to me according to your word.”
Luke 1:38

Mary was touched by the visit of the angel. What the angel said deeply stirred her heart. She was specially selected to be the mother of the Son of God. Her Son would become a great and mighty divine King. His kingdom would have no end (Luke 1:31-33).
Her soul was deeply touched by what the angel revealed. Young people, have we been deeply touched by the word of God at Youth Conference? Let’s respond to His word.

2. Allowing Significance To Sink In

“Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”
Luke 1:38

She allowed the significance of the Lord’s word to sink in. Mary saw herself as nothing before Him. Her perspective of self was one of only being a maidservant. She was willing to humble herself and be a servant of the Lord. When we allow the significance of God’s truths to sink in, it helps us to realise how great and wonderful the Lord is.

3. Being Overwhelmed By The Magnitude Of The Honor

“And Mary said:
‘My soul magnifies the Lord,
And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.'”

Luke 1:46-49

Mary was able to give soul-felt praise to God because she realised the magnitude of the honor given to her as the mother of Jesus. The Lord had regarded her in a special way. All generations will call her blessed. The Lord had done great things for her. Her soul was deeply moved and overwhelmed by the magnitude of the honor that the Lord had given. This Christmas, may our souls be deeply moved by the privilege of being in God’s kingdom. We are specially blessed. Let’s joyfully praise Him from the depths of our soul.
