Can We Be Separated From God’s Love?

When we are faced with the trying problems of life, doubts and despair can come easily. We can erroneously conclude that we have been separated from God’s love. The apostle Paul was addressing this issue when he wrote to the Roman Church.

“Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?”
Romans 8:35

When problems persist, it is easy to entertain the thought that God does not love us anymore. Paul raised the question whether the problems of life could disconnect us from God’s love. The answer was, “No!”

Paul’s Personal Certainty In The Inseparable Love Of God

“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39

What a blessed thought! For Paul had this personal conviction and certainty that nothing on this earth or in the heavens could separate him from God’s love. Nothing he did or said could separate him from God matchless and inseparable love. The Lord’s love goes beyond any sin or any problem of life. We too can have this persuasion that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Let’s cling on to His wonderful love with great certainty.

An Indomitable Spirit To Face Any Challenge Of Life

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
Romans 8:37

Being persuaded that we have been deeply loved by God should give us an indomitable spirit. We can be more than just survivors of the problems of life. We can be truly victorious. We can overcome everything through knowing and holding on to the inseparable love of God. Young people, let’s learn to cultivate this indomitable spirit as we face the challenges of the year. Knowing that God will never let us go should spur us to be more than conquerors.
