Praising The Lord With Gladness

Young people, we have come to the end of 2010. God has blessed us with much over the past one year. It is a good discipline for us to take time to review the year and to reflect on the Lord’s hand in our lives. The Psalmist always took time to ponder on God and His works. As he did this, his heart was so full that he determined to give thanks and praise the Lord.

“It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High”

Psalm 92:1

The Psalmist saw it as a good endeavour to give thanks to the Lord. He sought to sing praises to the Lord’s name. The Lord had made him glad through His works. Young people, can we see the Lord’s hand in our life? All of us should be able to see His good hand leading and blessing us. Let’s seek to give thanks and praise Him with gladness.

Perspective Of God’s Greatness

“O Lord, how great are Your works!
Your thoughts are very deep.
A senseless man does not know,
Nor does a fool understand this.”

Psalm 92:5-6

As the Psalmist pondered over God and His works, he saw the greatness of all that He had done. Behind all His works are deep thoughts. The Lord has great and amazing designs and concepts behind all that He does and will do. His thoughts for His people and their future are truly deep and wonderful. A person who is foolish and unwise – one who does not think through things – will not appreciate them. The Psalmist also went on to speak of how the Lord is high above all things (Psalm 92:1, 8). There is no God that can compare to Him. He is indeed an almighty and sovereign Lord.

Purpose To Declare His Greatness Always

“To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning,
And Your faithfulness every night”

Psalm 92:2

“To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock and there is no unrighteousness in Him.”

Psalm 92:15

The Psalmist purposed in his heart to declare the Lord’s goodness. He determined to speak of the Lord’s lovingkindness in the morning and His faithfulness in the evening. At the start of the day, he thought of God and His love. When the day was over and He saw the Lord’s faithfulness in his life once again for that day, he would declare how faithful He is. This determination to declare the Lord’s greatness is something that should last a lifetime. Even when the righteous is old, he would still be declaring about the Lord and His attributes. Young people, let’s take time to declare the Lord’s goodness to our friends. Let’s invite our friends to come for Down Memory Lane service. Let’s tell them how great the Lord is to us.
