The Determination To Praise God Always

As we approach the end of another semester, let’s determine to give praise to God continually. This sense of commitment to bless the Lord was exemplified and greatly encouraged by David in the text of Psalm 34 as he reflected on Him and His blessings.

“I will bless the Lord at all times;
His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

My soul shall make its boast in the Lord;

The humble shall hear of it and be glad.

Oh, magnify the Lord with me,

And let us exalt His name together.”

Psalm 34:1-3

David was filled with great joy in his heart as he resolved in his heart to always give praise to God. He wrote this Psalm in deep appreciation of what the Lord did for him when he pretended to be mad before Abimelech (official throne name) and who eventually drove him away (1 Samuel 21:10-15). David was able to escape from the hand of King Saul and Achish (personal name), the king of Gath. His heart was so full of gratitude to God that he gave soul-felt declaration of His greatness. Those who fear the Lord would rejoice together with him as they hear of His blessings. David made a call to all to magnify and exalt the Lord’s name together.

Definite Collection Of Testimonies Concerning God Answering Prayers

“I sought the Lord, and He heard me,
And delivered me from all my fears.

They looked to Him and were radiant,

And their faces were not ashamed.

This poor man cried out,

And the Lord heard him,

And saved him out of all his troubles.”

Psalm 34:4-6

What was it that made David respond with such exuberance and commitment in praising God? The reason was because his heart was full of thanksgiving to God for answering his prayers and the prayers of many others. There was this outstanding collection of testimonies of people who feared God and experienced His gracious answers to their prayers. David trusted in God, sought Him and He heard him and delivered him from all his fears. The shepherd-turned-commander of Israel’s army was very much afraid of Achish because of what his servants had said to him about David (1 Samuel 21:11-12). But God was faithful in answering David’s prayers and he was delivered from all his fears. There were others who looked to Him and their faces were filled with great joy because God was there for them. God also heard the cries of a poor man and the Lord saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord was also there to specially watch over His people. Truly, there was this outstanding collection of testimonies of people experiencing the Lord’s gracious answers to prayer. Young people, has God also answered your prayers this year? Let’s give Him the glory.

The Invitation To Experience The Goodness Of God

“Oh taste and see that the Lord is good;
Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”

Psalm 34:8

From the above testimonies that David recorded, we can see the unmistakable hand of God and His goodness to those who fear Him and trust in Him. David made a call for all people, including us, to really taste and see that the Lord is indeed good. There is nothing like experiencing the goodness of the Lord for ourselves when we trust in Him and seek to pray to Him about our fears and troubles! What would we have to lose by trying God out? Absolutely nothing! Above all, we have everything to gain. I have experienced how good God is! Many in Bethany have experienced the Lord’s goodness and blessings. You too can experience the Lord’s goodness and give praise to Him. Let’s seek to exercise faith by seeking and praying to Him for help. The Lord will show Himself that He is indeed good.
