God Revealing How Wonderful His Covenant Is

God’s promises in His covenant will always hold true. He would show all how reliable and how wonderful His promises are when we seek to fear Him. This was something that David wrote about when he was going through a most difficult time in the text of Psalm 25. He was greatly afflicted and was in pain because of his sins (Psalm 25:18). He sought the Lord to not remember the sins of His youth (Psalm 25:7). He felt that what he was going through was a result of his past and present sins. And as he grappled with this, he also remembered how wonderful the Lord’s covenant was.

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, And He will show them His covenant.”

Psalm 25:14

It was a covenant that the Lord would definitely keep to those who would fear Him and walk in His ways. The Lord’s promises in His covenant would be proven to be true. His blessings would be upon those who fear Him. There would be the blessing of protection and provision (Psalm 25:13). His descendants would also be protected and they would “inherit” the earth. His secrets (The deep things of God) would also be revealed to those who revere Him. Young people, let’s learn to fear the Lord too. Let’s seek to have faith in the promises of the Lord’s covenant.

Those Who Fear The Lord

“Who is the man that fears the Lord?”

Psalm 25:12

What the Lord is looking for in a person is whether he fears Him or not. What does it mean for a person to have this fear the Lord?

  1. He Gets Right With God When He Sins

“For Your name’s sake, O Lord, Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.”

Psalm 25:11

The person who wants to be blessed by the Lord has to get right with Him first. The Psalmist for the Lord’s name’s sake sought to confess His sins before Him. He realised how great his sin was and he sought the Lord to pardon it. May we also seek to get right with God by seeking His pardon.

  1. He Humbles Himself To Learn From The Lord

“Good and upright is the Lord; Therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The humble He guides in justice, And the humble He teaches His way.”

Psalm 25:9

Not only must the person who wants to fear the Lord seek pardoning from Him, he would also humble himself to learn from Him concerning His ways. Because the Lord is good and upright, He would teach sinners in His ways. He would guide the humble person to do that which is just and right. He would also teach in the way He chooses (Psalm 25:12).

  1. He Obeys The Lord And His Word

“All the paths of the Lord are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and testimonies.”

Psalm 25:10
