The Example Of Ananias In Having A Good Testimony

Young people, do you have a good testimony? Sometimes, it is not easy to have one. Let’s not be discouraged, though! Let’s be challenged by examples who have sought to live their lives for the Lord and to testify of their faith. Ananias was such an example. He is best remembered as the servant of God who was specially sent by the Lord Jesus to reach out to Paul. He is also known as one who had a good testimony.

“Then a certain Ananias… having a good testimony with all the Jews who dwelt there”
Acts 22:12

He had a good reputation and everyone in his neighbourhood recognised this. He was specially known among his fellow Jews. Young people, how can we also have a good testimony among all people?

1. Being Devoted To God’s Commandments

“Then a certain Ananias, a devout man according to the law”
Acts 22:12

Ananias was a man who practised a deep sense of piety to God. He must have been someone who specially followed the Lord. He was devoted fully to Him according to the laws of God. He had a deep sense of love for the laws of God. He sought to live his life according to the word of God. Young people, are we also seeking to be devoted to God according to His word? Let’s learn to love His word.

2. Being A Disciple Of Jesus

“Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias”
Acts 9:10

Ananias was also a humble disciple who followed the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus was his Master and Friend. He must have sought to be a good learner of the word. He must have been trained and guided in the ways of the Lord. Let’s also seek to be good disciples of the Lord. Let’s always be humble enough to learn and grow.

3. Being A Ready Servant Of The Lord

“And to him the Lord said in a vision, ‘Ananias.’ And he said, ‘Here I am, Lord.'”
Acts 9:10

When the Lord appeared in a vision to Ananias and called for him, he was ready to listen and serve. He was willing to submit to the Lord’s will. When he was asked to go and speak to Saul, he obeyed the Lord. When he spoke to Paul, He specially called him, “Brother Saul” This must have touched the heart of Paul. He was a tremendous blessing to Paul and he was baptised and restored. Young people, let’s also learn to be ready to serve in whatever way we can. Let’s seek to be a real blessing to others.
