The Man Who Fears The Lord

God is a most gracious and upright Teacher. He will not easily give up on just anyone. The Lord desires to still teach the worst of sinners. If he is willing to humbly seek the Lord in repentance, He will guide this person in the way of justice. He will show him His way. However, with regards to deeper truths, the Lord will not reveal them to just anyone. The privilege of knowing the deep things of God is given to one who fears Him.

“Who is the man who fears the Lord?”
Psalm 25:12

When a person truly fears the Lord, he will seek to change his wrong ways. He will seek to live a life that stands in awe and in reverence of God. There will be this high regard for God and absolute trust in Him and His words. He will obey the commandments of the Lord. To the man who fears the Lord, God will show him greater things.

The Things The Lord Would Teach One Who Fears Him

David highlighted two things that the Lord would teach.

1. He Will Teach Him The Way He Chooses

“Him shall He teach in the way He chooses.
He himself shall dwell in prosperity,
And his descendants shall inherit the earth.”

Psalm 25:12-13

The Lord will teach the sinner the general way of the Lord. However, to one who reveres Him, He will show him the way that He has chosen for him. There will be special insights as to how to live his life in righteousness and holiness. The Lord will specially prosper his life and his descendants will be greatly blessed.

2. He Will Show His Secrets

“The secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him,
And He will show them His covenant.”

Psalm 25:14

The Lord will also show the man who fears Him His deep secrets. There will be special enlightenment to the truths of God’s word. He will show the greatness and the glory of His covenant. The Lord will reveal His secret counsel to those who walk in uprightness (Proverbs 3:32).

The Challenge To Fear The Lord

Young people, it is indeed a great privilege for the Lord to enlighten us to the glorious things of the Scriptures. Let’s seek to fear Him as our Lord and God. Let’s seek to keep His ways. Let’s be challenged to walk in fear of the Lord.
