THANKING GOD FOR THE LORD’S BLESSINGS DURING EASTER

Easter week was indeed a special time of seeing the Lord’s blessings. The Easter concerts turned out really well, despite the fact that we have not had any concerts the last two years. The performances spoke to many hearts especially seeing “Jesus” carrying the cross with the song “Via Dolorosa” being sung. Our hearts were deeply moved as we remember how the Lord Jesus must have suffered extreme pain for our sins. Easter Sunday was also a special time of celebrating our Lord’s resurrection, hearing His word, outreach to many and of course, there was the commissioning of Jonas to be a Student Pastor. We truly thank God for His blessings during the Easter week.

WAITING FOR OUR LORD JESUS’ RETURN

“Until our Lord Jesus Christ’s appearing, which He will manifest in His own time”
1 Timothy 6:14-15

As we consider the Lord’s resurrection and His ascension to heaven, our hope is now on the promise that He will return again one day. We do not know when this will be fulfilled. The Lord Jesus will return according to His own timing. Our part is not to try to figure out when this glorious event will take place. When the time is right, the Lord Jesus will come and gather us to Himself. Our challenge is to wait on Him till He comes. What an exciting and glorious day that will be!

SPECIAL DOXOLOGY FOR OUR LORD JESUS

“He who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings and Lord of lords, who alone has immortality, dwelling in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see, to whom be honor and everlasting power. Amen.”
1 Timothy 6:15

What is a doxology? It is a short hymn of praise to the Lord. Paul, as he thought about the Lord Jesus and His return, broke into a special doxology for Him with great joy and depth of thought.

1. THE ABSOLUTE SOVEREIGNTY OF THE LORD JESUS

The Lord is described by Paul as “the blessed and only Potentate.” The word “Potentate” refers to a ruler who is mighty in sovereignty. He completely reigns over all things. The Lord Jesus sits on the right hand of the throne of God and is the King who is far above all earthly kings. He is the Lord who is far above all earthly lords. He is truly above all.

2. THE IMMORTALITY OF THE LORD JESUS

No one on earth is divine like the Lord Jesus. He dwells in immortality. He is eternal and there is no end to His reign as King. He has everlasting power and will rule forever and ever.

3. THE GLORIOUS LIGHT OF THE LORD JESUS

He has been dwelling in unapproachable light. This is a reference to the glorious righteousness, purity and power of the Lord Jesus. No man has seen Him for who He really is. John described Jesus as one whose “countenance was like the sun shining in its strength” (Revelation 1:16). When he saw Jesus, he fell at His feet as dead. The Lord Jesus is truly glorious in countenance.

4. ALL GLORY TO BE GIVEN TO HIM

The apostle Paul could not help but give tremendous honour and glory to the King of kings and the Lord of lords. Let’s praise the Lord Jesus always for being our sovereign King and our light.
