Reviewing The Many Lessons Learnt At Family Camp

Many wonderful truths were learnt at family camp 2011. Our hearts were especially challenged by the night messages where Pastor spoke about how the Spirit of God can work in our lives, illustrated through the testimonies of outstanding Christians. He spoke on individuals like John Newton, George Washington Carver and Nick Vujici. Our hearts and spirits were stirred and inspired by their Spirit-filled examples. If you did not get the chance to go for the family camp, I would like to encourage you to get hold of the camp messages from our Church book store. For those who were there, let’s take time to review and reflect on what we heard.

The Example Of Ezekiel In Internalizing The Word Of God

An important response to the lessons learnt at camp is to take the time to internalise them. When God was preparing Ezekiel for His ministry, He commanded Ezekiel to hear and internalise His word.

1. Eating And Digesting The Word Of God

“Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I give you.”
Ezekiel 2:8

“And he said to me, ‘Son of man, feed your belly, and fill your stomach with this scroll that I give you.'”
Ezekiel 3:3

The Lord commanded Ezekiel to imbibe the word and not be rebellious. Sometimes, hearing the word of God can be most challenging with reference to the practice of it. Our part is not to be rebellious but to absorb what has been taught and seek to digest it. Each time we hear the word, let’s take time to “chew” on it and fill our minds, hearts and souls with the lessons taught to us. Let’s take time to digest what we have heard.

2. Receiving It Into Our Hearts

“Moreover He said to me: ‘Son of man, receive into your heart all My words that I speak to you and hear with your ears.'”
Ezekiel 3:10

The Lord also told Ezekiel to receive all the word of the Lord into his heart. The word of God is meant to be placed into our heart permanently. Beyond just understanding lessons of truth from the Scriptures with the mind, our challenge is to also understand with the heart and to let His word abide in it. Let’s seek to hide His word in our heart.

The Filling Of The Spirit Of God

“Then the Spirit lifted me up, and I heard behind me a great thunderous voice: ‘Blessed is the glory of the Lord from His place!'”
Ezekiel 3:12

Ezekiel was specially filled with the Spirit of God after he sought to internalize the word within his heart and life. He was able to see the glory of the Lord. He was able to hear praises being given to the glory of the Lord. The Spirit of the Lord lifted him to another level of spirituality. Young people, let’s also seek for the filling of the Spirit of God. May the Holy Spirit through His word help us to go to higher levels of spirituality.
