The Joy Of Just Dwelling In The Lord’s House

What does it mean to love the house of the Lord? The people who truly love God and His house are those who long to be in His courts and presence. The Psalmist thought of how wonderful and joyous it would be just to be in God’s house.

“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
Than dwell in the tents of wickedness.”

Psalm 84:10

The Psalmist was writing from a standpoint of people going on pilgrimages to Jerusalem. For him, travelling to the temple of God in Jerusalem meant everything. He would rather spend one day of his life in the house of God than to live a thousand days without it. He would also go to the extent of just being a doorkeeper in in His house than to dwell in the presence of those who do wicked deeds. Young people, let’s learn to find this joy of just dwelling in the house of God.

The Blessings Of Trusting In God

“O Lord of hosts,
Blessed is the man who trusts in You!”

Psalm 84:12

Those who love dwelling in the Lord’s house are those who also trust in Him. There are many wonderful blessings that God gives to those who trust in Him.

1. The Blessing Of Strength

“They go from strength to strength”
Psalm 84:7

Those who trust in the Lord will find strength. Those who go on pilgrimages will find special strength to go on their journey and to overcome difficulties.

2. The Blessing Of Protection

“For the Lord God is a … shield”
Psalm 84:11

The Lord would also give special protection to those who trust in Him. He would be a shield for His people as they travel from place to place.

3. The Blessing Of Glory

“The Lord will give grace and glory”
Psalm 84:11

The Lord would grant grace and glory in all that we do.

4. The Blessing Of Good Things

“No good things will He withhold
From those who walk uprightly.”

Psalm 84:11

The Lord would also bless us with good things. He would answer our prayers and provide for our needs. Let’s do our part to trust God and walk righteously that He may bless us with good things.
