A Great Call To All To Praise The Lord

Bethany celebrates her 37th anniversary this weekend. This is simply amazing! 37 years of undeserved blessings from God on Bethany should cause us to be deeply thankful. It should cause us to send out a call to everyone to praise Him and to exalt His magnificent name. The Psalmist sought to do this as he wrote Psalm 117.

“Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!
Laud Him, all you peoples!”

Psalm 117

Psalm 117 is the shortest Psalm in the whole book of Psalms and yet, it is still very significant. The Psalmist called for all people to honour the Lord with conviction and fervour. If we truly appreciate the Lord and the privilege of knowing Him, let’s give Him our greatest honour and praise at our anniversary celebration this Sunday.

Great Reasons To Praise The Lord

“For His merciful kindness is great toward us,
And the truth of the Lord endures forever.
Praise the Lord!”

Psalm 117:2

There are two great reasons why we should praise the Lord.

1. Because Of The Greatness Of His Kindness

When we look at God’s kindness, we can recognise that is truly great and extensive. He has been most merciful to us. Through the years, we have seen the Lord blessing Bethany from a small group of 20 people to what it is today. We cannot help but acknowledge it is only by His merciful kindness that we are standing as a Church today. We must humbly admit that we are so undeserving of His everlasting mercies.

2. Because Of The Greatness Of His Truth

The truth of the Lord is both majestic and unique. There is nothing quite like it. It is so powerful that it can change a person’s life (Psalm 19:7). The word of God is also enduring and steadfast. It can give wisdom to all people (Psalm 19:7). When we keep them, there is great reward. Truly, we can see how great and majestic the word of God is. We praise God for the way His word has been preached and taught to us at Bethany and how it has changed our lives. Thank God for the greatness of His truths!

Making Praise A Great Part Of Our Life

“Praise the Lord!”
Psalm 117:2

The Psalmist began the psalm by calling all to praise the Lord. He ended the psalm by once again calling everyone to give praise to Him. Our challenge is to make praising the Lord a great part of our lives. Let’s praise God for His great mercies and His enduring truths at our Church anniversary and always.
