TRUSTING IN GOD… DELIGHTING IN HIM… CONFIDENCE IN HIS BLESSINGS

Trusting in the Lord is one of the best ways to counter fretting. The Psalmist was challenging his readers not to fret despite enemies seemingly having the upper hand. He strongly encouraged them to trust in the Lord and to dwell on His faithfulness. They were to not worry but to trust and to delight themselves in Him. Another way not to fret is to find delight in Him.

Trust in the Lord…Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart…”  Psalm 37:3-4

The use of the word “also” denotes that this is addition to the idea of trusting. The Psalmist strongly encouraged the readers to learn to delight in the Lord instead of fretting. There is so much that people can treasure and enjoy in the Lord. People can delight in His involvement in their life. They can delight in truths of the word of God. They can find joy in His wisdom and ways. They can rejoice in His faithfulness and mercies. When we trust in the Lord, and delight in Him, He shall bring about His blessings. He will give us the desire of our heart which would be inline with what we delight in the Lord and His ways. This is our confidence.

PRAYING TO GOD…TRUSTING IN HIM…CONFIDENCE IN PRAYERS ANSWERED

Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass.”   Psalm 37:5

The Psalmist also strongly encouraged everyone to pray. They were to commit their path of life to the Lord’s hand. Prayer and trust go very much together. Trusting in the Lord should be an on-going thing. During prayer, as we commit things to the Lord, we should also learn to have greater trust in Him. After prayer, we too should continue to trust in Him. He shall bring whatever we commit to Him to come to pass. Our prayers would be answered by the Lord God. The Lord hearing our prayers may not be an immediate thing. And thus, the challenge for us to learn to trust and wait. Young people, as you continue with your exams and with the challenges in life, let learn to commit them to the Lord in prayer. Let’s learn to have greater trust In Him. He shall indeed bring things to pass. Let’s have certainty of trust in the Lord and His blessings according to His will.
