Lead Me In Your Truth

“YOUR WAYS…YOUR PATHS…YOUR TRUTH”

Show me Your ways, O Lord; teach me Your paths, lead me in Your truth…”   Psalm 25:4-5

This has been a prayer that I have made for many years now. And I continue to do so. I realised even more how much we need the Lord to be involved in teaching and leading our life. First, there is the Lord to show us His general ways in life. There are the general ways of goodness, uprightness and justice. Second, the Lord can teach us the paths of mercy and truth. Even though there are times when we may sin against God and go away from Him, He is still merciful. And when we seek His forgiveness, He will bring us back to Himself and will still teach us His paths. Third, as we experience His ways and paths, we can evidently see them as truth. They become more than just theoretical knowledge. They are realised as truth. I am personally deeply thankful to the Lord for this.

PRAYING FOR THE LORD’S LEADING IN HIS TRUTH

Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day.”   Psalm 25:5

After knowing His truth, the next challenge is to practise them.

1. The need for the Lord to lead us in His truth

We need to pray for the Lord to lead us to walk in His truth.  Because we are so weak spiritually, we cannot do this by our own strength.   The Lord invariably needs to lead us and show us how it is to be done.

2. Further teaching needed

Furthermore, in humility, as we walk in His truth, we must desire the Lord to teach us further. There is so much more that the Lord can teach us. As such, things should never be taken for granted at any time.

3. Learning to wait on the Lord to teach each day

Finally, we must learn to wait on Him to guide and to teach further on a daily basis. He is the God of our salvation and He will be our help in our time of need – especially in facing this Covid 19 situation.  Let’s learn to wait on the Lord to lead and teach us further. Let’s make this verse our prayer for each and every day.
