In The Shadow Of Your Wings, I Will Rejoice

A REASONED RESPONSE TO TRUST UNDER THE SHADOW OF HIS WINGS

One truth that has continued to stay on my mind is the teaching of “under the shadow of His wings.” Pastor was speaking about it at the DML service 2020. At the end of February 2021, after taking two months to explain the many wonderful attributes of God from Psalm 36, he once again spoke about trusting the Lord under the shadow of His wings. We can rely on the Lord’s mercy, His faithfulness, His righteousness, and His precious lovingkindness. In Him, we can find the fountain of life and in His light, we can see light. And the challenge for us is to have a reasoned response.

How precious is your lovingkindness. O God.  Therefore, the children of men put their trust under the shadow of Your wings.”  Psalm 36:7

The word “Therefore” brings across the idea of a thought through response. After considering all these wonderful attributes, our logical response is to put our full trust under the shadow of His wings. His wings represent tremendous power and protection. His shadow brings across the idea of closeness. When we truly appreciate His lovingkindness and His wonderful attributes, we can resolve to trust in the shadow of His wings. We can be rooted in Him and His presence. This is something we can be thankful for.

A REASONED RESPONSE TO REJOICE IN THE SHADOW OF HIS WINGS

Because You have been my help, therefore in the shadow of Your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows close behind You; Your right hand upholds me.”  Psalm 63:7-8

David had a growing faith and relationship with the Lord.   From trusting, he went on to rejoicing in the Lord. The Psalmist had sought the Lord early in the morning because his soul was dry. When he was able to discover the amazing lovingkindness of God, he sought to praise Him.  And in the evening, he was able to see how the Lord was his help.  The use of “because” and “therefore” denotes again the idea of a reasoned response.  David personally experienced the Lord’s help in his life. Because the Lord was there for him, he rejoiced in the shadow of His wings. The Lord God was there to uphold him. His soul was able to follow close behind Him.  What a privilege!

During the week, I had to go for an operation to take out this huge lump of fats from my back (15 cm by 13 cm). It was a painful affair. And yet I was most conscious of the Lord’s presence and sought to dwell under the shadow of His wings. The Lord upheld me and I was specially helped by Him. Thank God for a safe operation. Because He was my help, therefore I rejoiced in His lovingkindness.

There comes a special sense of joy in our heart when the Lord upholds us and we can draw near to Him.  Let’s seek the Lord even more and experienced His help and His presence. Let’s rejoice in the shadow of His wings.
