Bringing God Into The Picture

REJOICING IN LIFE

It is a natural thing for young people to enjoy the good things of life. There is nothing wrong to find joy in the days of our youth. This was something that Pastor wrote about in his devotions from the book of Ecclesiastes.

Rejoice, O young man, in your youth, and let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth, walk in the ways of your heart, and in the sight of your eyes.”   Eccl. 11:9

Everything seems to be going well for those who are young. There is a whole life ahead of them. The future seems promising. There is a sense of hope in looking forward to what is ahead in their life. And so they seek to live according to the ways of their heart and to do things according to what they see as good for them. There is every reason to rejoice in their life. And yet, in the midst of life’s journey, they still need to be responsible for their life.

GOD WILL BRING YOU INTO JUDGMENT

But know that for all these God will bring you into judgment.  Therefore remove sorrow from your heart and put away evil from your flesh, for childhood and youth are vanity.”   Eccl. 11:9-10

I appreciate what Pastor wrote in his devotion that this is not a strong word of warning. It is more a good advice from an older man to a younger person. This friendly advice is meant to encourage young people to include God in their life. While we may have the “freedom” to live life in whatever way we want, we must remember that we are still accountable to God for whatever we do. The Lord God does not spare the wicked and the unjust. They will be judged for their sins. If we willfully do that which is evil and wicked and continue to do so, the Lord will also take that into account. It is wise to bring Him into the picture concerning how we want to live our life. The challenge is to live our life carefully and prudently.

  1. Setting aside sorrows of the heart

There are many things that can bring sorrow to the heart. Especially being in this Covid-19 infected world, it is easy for us to allow negative thoughts and emotions to get the better of us and be depressive. The challenge is to set aside sorrow from the heart. Young people, seek counsel from the pastors and others if you need help for this. Let’s learn to rejoice in life instead.

  1. Getting rid of evil from our flesh

Furthermore, let’s put away evil thoughts and evils deeds from our mind and life. Evil is something that is deep seated within us. We must seek the Lord for His grace to help us remove that evil from within us. We can only be young once. Let’s not waste it by doing things that are evil.

During this school holiday, we can enjoy living our life. And yet it is wise to include God in our daily life. Let’s use our time well that we may live as responsible young people and that we can be accountable to the Lord one day.
