The Faithfulness of God

As I walked out of the examination hall for the final time, a deep sense of thankfulness filled my heart as I marked the end of my university education. I spent some time reflecting on the faithfulness of God through the past 18 years of my schooling journey. And each step of the way, I have discovered more about a faithful God who has become personal and real to me – and this is something that I cherish dearly. My thoughts echo the words of the Psalmist David in Psalm 8:4, which reads:

“What is man that You are mindful of him,…”

I stand amazed and humbled that God, in all His splendour and glory, would be mindful of me.

TRACING THE HAND OF GOD

For most of my life, I have always been an average person. I never had outstanding grades, nor did I win glamorous medals or trophies. Most people would not even take a second glance at me as I was a quiet young person who blended in with the crowd. I felt there was nothing special about my life, and each day was just another day passing by.

But as I began to look at my life more closely, it slowly became obvious that God was working in me and He has been with me at every step of the way. When I thought that nobody would notice me even when I faced difficulties, God sent people to come alongside and encourage me. When I faced stressful examinations and tight deadlines, I found that I could turn to Him and He would hear my prayers. When I struggled with my emotions and thoughts, I learnt that I could find comfort through Him. Despite all my inadequacies, God has been close by to me and extremely gracious towards me.

Truly, my heart resounds with the words of the Psalmist David, “What is man that you are mindful of him?” It is undeniable that God has provided and cared for me in ways that I could not even imagine.

PURSUING A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

God in all His glory and majesty has extended His hand to me even though I am insignificant and ordinary. I like the Psalmist David’s response in Psalm 8:

 “Oh Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in all the earth.”

God has become so much more personal and real to me. He is my God in whom I will trust. He is close by and will always be there with me. As I discover more about God, it is my heart’s desire to pursue a personal relationship with Him. In awe, I want to praise God for His name is truly all-glorious! I may have closed a major chapter of my life as I finish formal education, but it is only the beginning of discovering God so much more. I look forward to developing my walk with the Lord as I begin the next stage in life in the working world.
