“You Answer With Your Life And You…Follow!”

These are the words that continue to resonate within my heart as I recall the recent Easter Concert.  The disciples of Jesus were remembering how He called them to follow Him. They were singing of how they rose up to answer that call.

Cause when the Voice that spoke creation calls your name. You know that you never be the same.  When you hear, “Drop your nets”, you do just what He says and you go. You answer with your life and you follow.”

Such inspiring thoughts!

“FOLLOW ME…”

I took a bit of time to go back to the Lord’s original call to His disciples. He spoke these challenging words to them.

Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”  They immediately left their nets and followed Him…”  Matt. 4:19

  1. Following the person of Christ

The focus of discipleship work is following the person of Christ.   It is developing a special relationship with Him and letting Him guide us in all things.  We are meant to follow the teachings and the example of the Lord.  We are meant to walk closely with Him.

  1. The process of Christ changing us

The call of the Lord Jesus is to follow and be transformed.  The Lord Jesus will train us through His servants.   He will mold us and lead us through the process of change.  He will do this work of transforming us from glory to glory.  Our part is to learn, grow in knowledge and master skills to serve.

  1. The product of Christ changing us

The product of the Lord’s work is that we will become fishers of men.   We can be skilled in reaching the lost and in sharing with them the gospel.  He will empower us to do this work.  The Lord would enable us to bear witness and to be effective in pointing people to Christ.  Let’s answer the call to follow the Lord and seek to grow and change.  Let’s seek to be good fishers of men.
