Oh Deer!

The mule deer is named such because of its mule like ears. Its habitat is mainly in the western half of North America, where they thrive at elevations of between 3,500 feet and 8,500 feet. The adult male mule deer are called bucks. Adult females are called doe and the young of both sexes are called fawns. For each season, the mule deer eat different sources of food. In summer, it chiefly forages herbaceous plants and berries. In winter, it forages on conifers. When in season, it eats acorns and apples.  Mule deer prefer to eat high amounts of fresh grass when they are available. Young mule deer tend to forage together in family groups while bucks tend to travel alone or with other bucks. Most actively forage around dawn and dusk and they tend to bed down in protected areas at mid-day.

At Yosemitepark, these beautiful creatures can be seen foraging and browsing in the meadows of the valley, being oblivious to being watched or photographed.  They may appear tame most of the time, having been exposed to humans for many years without being threatened. I took a picture of this fawn (Right) at Yosemitepark,USA. As I was standing in the grass taking pictures of the huge limestone hills surrounding the valley, this mule-deer, together with its mother, quietly and gracefully walked past me at about a metre away. They almost gave me a fright and made me say, “Oh deer!”. Yet, it was a special sight to behold.

THE LORD SATISFY THE DESIRE OF EVERY LIVING CREATURE

“The eyes of all look expectantly to you, and you give them their food in due season.  You open Your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.”
– Psalm 145:15-16

All living creatures, including the mule deer and all its kind, was created on the fifth day of creation. The Lord made them in such a way that every creature has an instinctive nature to wait on a higher being for their provision. They look expectantly to God for their food. The Lord is gracious and righteous in all His works and gives them what they need in due season. The Lord opens His hands mercifully and He satisfies the desire of every living creature. This is truly amazing to behold. The Lord God feeds and satisfies every living thing.

THE LORD FULFILL THE DESIRES OF THOSE WHO FEAR HIM

“The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him in truth.  He would fulfill the desires of those who fear Him.”
– Psalm 145:18-19

If the Lord can satisfy the desire of all animals, by a greater degree, He would also fulfil the desires of those who revere and honour Him. The Lord would specially be near to those who call upon Him in faith.  When we cry out to the Lord according to the truths of Scriptures, He would hear us in our times of need. He would specially be there for us. Let’s truly seek to fear Him. Let’s seek to call on Him in prayer. He would be gracious to us and He would fulfil the desires of our hearts.
