No Mountain High Enough

This is Mount Furano. It is one of the highest mountains in Hokkaido, Japan. It is about 1912 metres tall. It is a strato-volcano in the southwest of the Daisetsuzan National park. It forms the southernmost part of the Tokaichi mountains, a zone of recently-active startovolcanoes. When I stood there in the field to observe these magnificent ranges, I could help but stand in awe of the Lord’s creation. In the midst of the clear afternoon breeze, it dawn on me how these huge mountains of rocks and earth were built by the Lord at the beginning of time.

“WHO ESTABLISHED THE MOUNTAINS BY HIS STRENGTH”

“By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, you who are the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of the far-off seas; who established the mountains by His strength, being clothed with power”
– Psalm 65:6

Psalm 65 is about giving praise to God for His great goodness. Appreciating His goodness locally helps us appreciate His greater goodness universally. God’s goodness is not just on us as His people. His goodness is to the ends of the earth. This universal God is also the confidence of the whole earth. It was the Lord who established the mountains with His strength. The mountains are clothed with His power. Behind each magnificent mountain that we see is the great power of God. He established the mountains. Truly let’s stand in awe of Him.
