Ice Carved Mountains

This is a picture of Yosemite Park on a late weekday afternoon. According to Yosemite.ca.us, the Yosemite park mountainous ranges and valleys were created by glaciers about 1 million to 250,000 years ago. These glaciers formed and engulfed the whole area and the valley was gouged and quarried into a U-shaped trough with steep walls. Then about 30,000 years ago, another glacier advanced into the valley and enlarge the valley. Then, about 10,000 years ago, the last valley glacier hat melted and Yosemite valley became what it is today. On one hand, geophysicist postulate on how such beautiful cliffs and valleys were the result of nature. The Bible on the other hand speaks of how it was God with great wisdom created such magnificent features.

“BEFORE THE MOUNTAINS WERE SETTLED, BEFORE THE HILLS, I WAS BROUGHT FORTH…”

Behind the creation of all things in this world is God’s great wisdom. In the text of Proverbs 8:22-31, wisdom personified speaks in the 1st person about the creation of the world.

“The Lord possessed me at the beginning of His way, before His works of old. I have been established from everlasting, from the beginning, before there was ever an earth…before the mountains were settled, before the hills, I was brought forth…”
– Proverbs 8:22-23, 25

Wisdom was with God before the creation of the universe and our world. Before God created the hills and the mountains, together with its valleys and springs, He was employing wisdom in His plans. God was working things out as a master craftsman. And as He created all things including the mountains and the hills, He rejoiced in all that He did. Daily, the Lord delighted in His creation because wisdom was fully employed.

“Now therefore, listen to me, my children, for blessed are those who keep my ways.”
– Proverbs 8:32

Even as we have seen the wisdom behind all that God had created, the encouragement is for us to be wise and to keep His ways. If we listen and do this, we would be indeed blessed.
