Early Will I Seek You

This was a picture I took at the Grand Canyon some years ago.   It shows how arid the canyon is.   After just spending some moments in the sun, my mouth was parched.   This reminded me of the Psalm that David wrote concerning how dry his soul was when he was in the wilderness. And he had a deep longing for the Lord.

O God, You are my God, early will I seek You;…” Psalm 63:1

He sought for the Lord early in the morning.   There was a deep sense of longing to be with Him.   He thirsted after the Lord. He looked for Him lovingly. Why?

  1. Because the Lord is our sole source of spiritual vitality

My soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you, in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1

The world is brought across by the Psalmist symbolically as an absolutely dry and thirty land.   It is very hard to find any form of relief for one’s spiritual thirst. We become spiritual dry after a while We search for the Lord because He is the sole giver of life and vitality.   He can quench and satisfy all our deepest needs and longings

  1. Because the Lord is the sole source of spiritual inspiration

To see Your power and Your glory…” Psalm 63:2

The Lord God is also our only source of deep spiritual inspiration. The Psalmist wanted to discover further the Lord’s power and glory. He is a revealer of who He is and how glorious He is.   He brings a special sense of inspiration to our soul.   Let’s also be inspired to seek the deep things of the Lord and let’s pray that He would bring uplifting encouragement to our heart and soul.
