Text: Daniel 9:3-19

Dear Young People,

THROUGH A DEEP KNOWLEDGE OF GOD’S WORD

Through a deep knowledge of God’s Word, Daniel became a man of great wisdom and discernment.

1. He could figure out why Israel was in exile.

2. He could understand the judgment of God.

3. He could also understand why God gave him visions of Israel’s dread future. More problems would come to Israel. All his visions served to confirm that God’s word would come to pass.

Through a deep knowledge of God’s Word, Daniel also became a man of faith, a man of hope and prayer. He became a great intercessor on behalf of Israel because of his knowledge of God’s Word. Consider the depth of the next part of his prayer.

“Therefore the Lord has kept the disaster in mind,
and brought it upon us;
For the Lord God is righteous in all the works
Which He does, though we have not obeyed His voice.”
Daniel 9:14

Why had God brought disaster on Israel? The nation need not look further for the cause of the disaster! The blame cannot be attached to God. The Lord had not failed His people. The problem was Israel’s. The nation had not obeyed God’s voice!

Through a deep knowledge of the Lord, Daniel found faith to confess the sins of the nation, in the hope that God would find it in His merciful heart to forgive.

“And now, O Lord our God,
who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt
with a mighty hand, and made Yourself a name,
as it is this day – we have sinned, we have done wickedly!”
Daniel 9:15

PLEADING FOR GOD’S ANGER AND FURY TO BE TURNED AWAY

It takes a man of great experience in prayer to say the following words to God in humble faith.

“O LORD, according to all Your righteousness, I pray,
let Your anger and Your fury be turned away
from your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain;
because for our sins, and for all the iniquities of our fathers,
Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those
Around us.”
Daniel 9:16

Sadly, few know how to pray as Daniel did. Would you learn how to pray?
