Celebrating Bethel 22nd Anniversary

This week, we rejoice with Bethel on the celebration of its 22nd Anniversary. We thank God for the way in which the Lord has blessed Bethel all these years. We see the work of God truly evident and we give praise to Him for His power at work.

A group of more than 40 brethren from Bethany flew over to Perth to join Bethel in their celebrations. We thank God for a great time of fellowshipping together. We thank God for His blessings upon Bethel.

Prayer for God’s further work in Bethel

Though we see Bethel progressing over the years, we do want to continue to pray for the needs of the church. During Bethel’s ACM, Pastor Charles taught about the way in which Paul reported to the church concerning his first missionary trip. Through his report, we want to specially highlight a few things for us to pray over for Bethel, “Now when they had come and gathered the church together, they reported all that God has done with them and that He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.” (Acts 14:27)

1. God’s work

We need to acknowledge that it is God who is doing the work. Paul acknowledged that no matter what he and his fellow workers had done, it was always God who was at work. What they had been doing was by the grace of God. (Acts 14:26) We thank God for work that God has done in Bethel. We recognise that Bethel is what it is by the grace of God. Let us pray that God will continue to do His further work here in Bethel in the year ahead.

2. Fellow workers with God

I like this phrase…that God was doing the work with them. Paul and the others were seen as fellow workers of God. We are meant to work side by side with God. This is indeed a wonderful privilege. This was Pastor’s encouragement to Bethel…to be God’s fellow worker. Working together with God in His work is the best approach that we can have towards ministry. Let us pray that Bethel will continue to be God’s fellow worker.

3. The door of faith

The Lord is the One who had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles. Once, it seemed like the gospel was only meant for the Jews. But in truth, the gospel is also meant for the Gentiles. It is through this door of faith that we can reach out. It is by faith that we can truly achieve more for the Lord. Let us seek to exercise our faith in ministering through the door of faith.

Prayer for more labourers

“The harvest truly is plentiful but the labourers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into His harvest field.” (Matt 9:37, 38)

We thank God for Pastor Chris who has been serving faithfully and doing well in ministering to the flock in Bethel. Yet, we recognise that Pastor Chris would require other labourers to serve alongside him in reaching out to the people in Perth. The Lord gave the challenge for us to pray for the Lord to send more labourers to enter into the harvest field. There are many in Perth who still do not know the Lord. Let us pray for more leaders to rise up. Let us pray for the next generation to consider serving in the full time ministry to serve the Lord. Let us pray for the Lord to continue to do His special work in Bethel.
