Grace Works Week 50 BannerComing soon

In just a few days’ time, Family Camp 2015 will begin. Many of us are excited about being at this year’s camp. Among the many things that we look forward to, it is the study of the Lord’s Word that we are hungering for.

Each year, the greatest blessings have always been the messages at camp, through which we are spiritually fed and wonderfully revived. The theme on being “More than conquerors” is most relevant and timely. It is an exciting concept to study…especially after having a taste of what we are going to learn at our Pre-Camp Special.

Reflections on the Pre-camp special

I would like to share with you some of my thoughts as I reflected on what we were taught at the Pre-camp special.

1. We are called to a life of a conqueror

I like what Pastor shared concerning being a conqueror. It is part of our calling. Whether it was Israel or Jeremiah, all of them were called to be the servants of the Lord… essentially to be a conqueror. For Jeremiah, he was called to be the prophet of the Lord, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5) Jeremiah was ordained to be a prophet to the nations of Israel. It was a tremendous task to fulfill this role. He would have to face many challenges, opposition and difficulties. Yet he was called to be an overcomer. In the same way, all of us are called to a life of being a conqueror. Let’s be challenged to heed this calling.

2. To be signs and wonders

I appreciated the prophet Isaiah’s perspective of himself as prophet, “Here am I and the children whom the Lord has given me! We are for signs and wonders in Israel from the Lord of hosts who dwells in Mount Zion.” (Isaiah 8;16) The phrase “signs and wonders” basically means that Isaiah (and all prophets) and his children were meant to be examples to the people of Israel. Isaiah was to be a sign and wonder of what it means to be a conqueror. If we learn and follow the examples of being a conqueror, we too can be a sign and a wonder. Let’s be challenged to learn from these signs and wonders that we may become examples of a conqueror too.

3. Everyone can be a conqueror

There was Jeremiah who was a young prophet. Many of the other prophets were much older. Whether they were young or old, all of them became overcomers. As young adults, we may have had our own fair share of challenges, whether at the work place and in balancing different ministries that we have been entrusted with. But we are all meant to be conquerors.  This is what the Lord called us to be. All of us have the potential to become conquerors. Let us realize that potential as we deal with the challenges of life

More than conquerors

Many have lived much of their life in defeat. We do not need to remain in our defeated state. With a conquering spirit, we can turn defeat into victory. Let’s learn to rise from our defeats and become a conqueror. Let us look forward to becoming more than conquerors as we learn from the Lord’s Word at the family camp.
