The truth of the knowledge of God

All of us should desire a greater knowledge of God. And that knowledge should not be just theoretical or intellectual. True knowledge of God is gained when it becomes real and personal to us. It is meant to be experienced in our life and ministry.

Through the Sunday Morning Worship messages, Pastor Charles has been helping us to increase our knowledge of God. We have been learning about the many attributes of God from Psalm 36, a wonderful and precious Psalm of David. The depth of each attribute taught demonstrates how profound our God is. Yet, He is meant to be very real to us.

The mercies of the Lord

“Your mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens;” (Ps 36:5)

God proclaimed Himself to Moses, revealing His grace and mercy…among other attributes (Ex 34:6). Throughout the history of Israel, we see mercy being extended again and again. When God could have destroyed Israel for their manifold horrible sins such as idolatry, He sought to give His abundant mercy instead. His mercy is truly measured in the heavens. As it is impossible to ascertain how immense the heavens are, so is the mercy of God.

The faithfulness of God

“Your faithfulness reaches to the clouds.” (Ps 36:5)

God’s faithfulness is demonstrated through His love. His love for Israel lasted throughout generations. God’s faithfulness is also seen in His Word. All that the Lord had promised, He was faithful in fulfilling. His faithfulness is so great that it reaches to the clouds. God led Israel with a cloud, and He had been faithful in guiding them through the wilderness till they reached the Promised Land. Let us deeply appreciate how great the faithfulness of God is.

Praying for my mom with the knowledge of God

I have been learning to pray in the multitude of God’s mercies from the example of David. He prayed to the Lord with knowledge and understanding…to ask in the multitude of God’s mercies, keeping in mind His acceptable time and the truth of His salvation (Ps 69:13).

I sought God for the multitudes of His mercies to be extended to my mom. For six weeks, my mom was in the hospital struggling with pain and with physical weakness. But with each day, I saw the mercy of God being extended to her as she was healed and regained strength.

This week, my mom was discharged from the hospital and has returned home. Words fail to express how thankful I am to God for all that He has done for my mom. Though prayers were offered, it is because of God’s great grace and mercy that my mom is home. His faithfulness has been truly evident.

The reality of a profound God

I caught a little glimpse of the mercy and the faithfulness of God. As I pondered over how this glimpse is nothing compared to God’s mercy that is measured in the heavens and His faithfulness reaches to the clouds, I was deeply moved and tears came to my eyes. The reality of the knowledge of God just overwhelmed me. I stood in awe of a profound yet personal God. Let us be challenged to discover the truth of the knowledge of God in a real and personal manner.
