Thank God for His blessings

This week, Chen Kee and I moved out of church as phase II of our A and A (Additions and Alterations) has begun. We have been staying in church for the last 13 years. What are some of my thoughts as I reflect over my stay in Bethany III? I would like to draw my thoughts from Psalm 84.

1. Blessed for the privilege

“For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand. I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God” (Ps 84:10)

I count it a real privilege to have been able to stay in church and to be the doorkeeper of the house of the Lord.

It has been a joy and a blessing to watch over the house of the Lord and to ensure that it is secured each day. There is no better place to be than the house of the Lord. I thank God for the Lord’s provision and in blessing our stay here over all these years.

2. Blessed for the Lord’s involvement

I also count myself blessed to see the Lord blessing Chen Kee and me during the course of our stay in church.

a. The Lord’s strength

“Blessed are those whose strength is in You.” (Ps 84:5)

I thank God for His strength to help me fulfil my responsibilities through out the years. There were days which turned out longer than usual. Yet the Lord provided strength to cope.

b. The Lord’s protection

“For the Lord God is a sun and shield;” (Ps 84:11)

The Lord has kept us…protected our church during our watch. He has truly been our shield.

c. The Lord’s grace

“The Lord will give grace and glory.” (Ps 84:11)

The Lord also gave us grace and joy as we ministered for Him.

d. The Lord’s goodness

“No good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (Ps 84:11)

Truly all this while, the Lord has not withheld His goodness on us as we served Him. He has shown His goodness over the years. As the Lord has provided a place for us, I see the continuing goodness of the Lord.

3. Blessed that we can give praise to the Lord

“Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they will still be praising You.”  (Ps 84:4)

There is much for us to praise the Lord for over these 13 years. As we dwelt in the house of the Lord, we sought to give Him praise consistently.

Let us all recognise how blessed we are and to give Him the praise that He rightly deserves. Let us be challenged to appreciate all the blessings of the Lord.
