A season to be inspired

As Christmas approaches, what are you hoping to experience? Personally, I am looking to be inspired. In fact, I have already to some extent been inspired as I prepare myself for Christmas.

I love being inspired. There is no better way to end the year and to begin 2016 than to be inspired by the season of Christmas.

Christmas should not be just another Christmas. It should never be humdrum and perfunctory. Often times, we fall into the trap of having the “same old” Christmas experience.

Christmas is such a significant and spiritually rich occasion that should leave us inspired in our life and ministry. How has Christmas inspired me?

My inspirations this Christmas

 Inspired by God

The source of all our inspiration should come from God. He should be our greatest inspiration. As I relook at the Christmas plan that God designed for us…for the world in the giving of His son to be born into this world and to save us…it is a most inspiring plan. This divine plan reflects God’s love for us. (1 John 4:9) Let us be inspired by the love of God.

  1. Inspired by Christ

Learning about the names of Christ this Christmas has also been most inspiring. Whether Christ is the Son of David or the Son of the Highest, these are inspiring names that should cause us to relate to Him in a far more significant way. Let us be inspired to bow, to worship, to obey and to give the highest praise that the Lord is truly deserving of.

  1. Inspired by the word of God

I am always fascinated that each Christmas, as we re-read the words of the Christmas narrative about the declarations of the angel Gabriel and the fulfillment of prophecy, these words never fail to amaze me. (Matt 1, 2, Luke 1,2) They are always inspiring to me for they are the very words of God.

In less than a week, we will be going for our YAG-YC Retreat. We will be going there to listen to the word of God speak to us. I hope that you will come to be inspired by the word of God. Let us be wonderfully inspired by the Scriptures this Christmas.

Inspired by the characters of the Christmas story

The stories of Mary and Joseph, the wise men and the shepherds have always been an inspiration to me. They were just normal human beings…some richer and some poorer. They all had initial struggles with God’s plan for them. But they were all able to overcome them with faith. They submitted to God’s plan and responded with worship and service to Christ.  Today, these examples continue to be an inspiration to me…and to all.

This Christmas, let us all seek to be inspired. Let us not go through a Christmas without being spiritually inspired. Let us be challenged to be inspired by God and the Christmas story that we may live more significantly.
