The beginning of the Christmas season

It is the time of the year for us to start preparing ourselves for Christmas. Each time when we come to Christmas, we want to ask ourselves, “What is Christmas to us?” Christmas should never be just another Christmas. Each Christmas must have its own special sense of significance.

A wrong attitude towards Christmas

There is always the danger of harbouring a wrong attitude towards Christmas. We could become indifferent about Christmas. We could end up going through the motions in our celebration of Christmas. We certainly want to guard our hearts from having a wrong attitude in our approach to Christmas. Let us be challenged to make Christmas special this year.

An extra special Christmas this year

What is so special about this Christmas that is different from all other Christmases? It is extra special that we will be celebrating this year’s Christmas in Bethany IV. This is going to make Christmas truly extra special.

We will have a new Sanctuary for us to worship in. There will be many new rooms for us to use for different ministries. Truly, this is the blessing of the Lord being showered upon our church.

The blessing of the Lord

What are some of the blessings that we want to appreciate as we celebrate Christmas this year?

1. The blessing of being specially chosen by the Lord

“Blessed is the man You choose, and cause to approach You, that he may dwell in Your courts.” (Ps 65:4)

We want to see how blessed we really are. We have been specially chosen to come before the Lord. It is indeed a privilege to be chosen and to be here in Bethany. It is our joy that we can dwell in the house of the Lord…Bethany IV. Let us appreciate the blessing of being chosen.

2. The blessing of being satisfied with the Lord’s goodness

“We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, of Your holy temple.” (Ps 65:4)

There is so much goodness in the Lord’s house. This is His Holy temple. The goodness of the Lord should fill our heats and minds. The Lord has done so many good things for us as a church…especially in providing Bethany IV for us to worship in. Let be truly satisfied with the blessing of the Lord’s goodness.

3. The blessing of the Lord answering our prayers

“By awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation,” (Ps 65:5)

Ultimately, as we come to worship in the house of the Lord, it is truly by the awesome work of God. We have prayed much for the Lord to help us build Bethany IV. The Lord has answered our prayers time and time again…especially throughout this year. We want to thank God for being the God of our salvation. May this Christmas truly prove to be extra special as we look forward to being in Bethany IV and to appreciate how blessed we really are!
