A Special Consecration

Thank God for the Family Camp ministry

We thank God for another wonderful week of camp. It was truly a most significant time for all who were there. Not because we had a record number of people at the camp, but rather we had the Word of God wonderfully preached to us through Pastor Charles once again. The theme “Walking in the Light of the Lord” was most apt and relevant to all of us…especially as we walk in the world that is full of darkness.

One of the key moments of the Family Camp was consecration night. This is probably one of the more significant consecration nights that I have experienced. What Pastor had been teaching throughout the camp led towards consecration night.

These are some thoughts that Pastor taught us.

1. Conceptual cleansing

““Come now, and let us reason together,” says the Lord, “though your sins are like scarlet,

they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”” (Isa 1:18)

Through the Lord’s reasoning, He spoke of the need to be cleansed…to be cleansed as white as snow. But this was something that could only be seen as a concept.

2. Concrete cleansing

“When the Lord has washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and purged the blood of Jerusalem from her midst, by the spirit of judgment and by the spirit of burning,” (Isa 4:4)

The spirit of judgment and the spirit of burning is a reference to the deeper cleansing work that is more concrete…and not just conceptual. Yet, this cleansing work is still not complete.

3. Confession

“Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.” (Isa 6:5)

There was a need for confession. The prophet Isaiah was able to see the holiness of God and in response he saw his own uncleanness…not just his lips but the whole body. He felt that he was undone and made full confession to the Lord about it.

4. Divine cleansing

“And he touched my mouth with it, and said: “Behold, this has touched your lips; your iniquity is taken away, and your sin purged.”” (Isa 6:7)

Another significant thing that was taught was how the angel came to Isaiah and touched his lips with a live coal. He pronounced that his sins were taken away and purged. This was the divine cleansing that Isaiah experienced. Let us look for this divine cleansing.

5. Consecration

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”” (Isa 6:8)

In experiencing the above things, Isaiah was then consecrated for the Lord’s work. He availed himself to God and offered himself to be sent. What a wonderful culmination in understanding what it means to prepare for consecration! Let us remember what we have learned and what it means for us to consecrate our lives to serve the living God.
