HOW MAY WE BE SURE OF OUR SALVATION?

Two Considerations are Presented

1. Our Part

a) Obedience          Philippians 2:12; 1 Peter 1:2

i) To God

ii) To God’s Word

iii) As Children of God

b) Always obeyed

i) In Paul’s Presence

ii) In Paul’s Absence (even more so)          Philippians 2:12

c) Obedience as an appropriate response

d) Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling

i) Work out          (κατεργάζεσθε :katergazesthe Pr. Mid. Imperative, 2PP)

ii) With Fear and trembling

2. God’s Part

a) God is the One working in the believer          Philippians 2:13

b) To Will

c) To Work

d) Special use of the conjunction “and” (connective)

i) Translated “both… and”

ii) Co-ordinate
