THE STEADFAST WORD

1. The word of angels proved steadfast (Hebrews 2:2)

i) The oath of the Lord
ii) As He has thought so it shall come to pass
iii) As He has purposed, so it shall stand

2. Transgression and disobedience

a) Received a just reward
b) Reality: The destruction of Jerusalem (Lamentations 2:17)

3. Appropriate response

a) To give the more earnest heed
To what has been heard (Hebrews 2:1a)
b) Lest we drift away (Hebrews 2:1b)
c) Idea of a ship drifting away, not being anchored properly
d) How shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation (Hebrews 2:3)

4. The word of God
