A Prayer For Vindication

Text: Psalm 26

A PRAYER FOR VINDICATION

1. Vindicate me, O LORD   (Psalm 26:1)

2. Let my vindication come from Your presence   (Psalm 17:2)

PREPARATION TO BE EXAMINED

1. Integrity

a) I have walked in my integrity   (Psalm 26:1)
b) I have walked in Your truth   (Psalm 26:3)

2. Consciousness of God

Your lovingkindness is before my eyes   (Psalm 26:3)

3. Trust

I have also trusted the LORD   (Psalm 26:1)

4. Idolatry

I have not sat with idolatrous mortals   (Psalm 26:4)

5. Bad company   (Cf. Psalm 1:1)

a) Nor will I go with hypocrites   (Psalm 26:4)
b) I have hated the assembly of evildoers   (Psalm 26:5)
c) And will not sit with evil doers   (Psalm 26:5)

6. Innocence

I will wash my hands in innocence   (Psalm 26:6)

7. Love for God’s House

LORD, I have loved the habitation of Your house,
And the place where Your glory dwells   (Psalm 26:8)

HOW GOD WILL CHECK

1. Examine me   (Psalm 26:2a)

2. Prove me   (Psalm 26:2b)

3. Try my mind   (Psalm 26:2c)

4. Try my heart   (Psalm 26:2d)

AN URGENT PLEA

1. Fear of God’s Judgment

a) Do not gather my soul with sinners   (Psalm 26:9a)
b) Nor my life with bloodthirsty men   (Psalm 26:9b)
i) Sinister scheme
ii) Full of bribes   (Psalm 26:10)

2. Integrity

a) I will walk in my integrity
b) Prayer for redemption
c) Plea for mercy   (Psalm 26:11)

3. Confidence in the Lord

a) That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving   (Psalm 26:7a)
b) And tell of all Your wondrous works
c) My foot stands in an even place   (Psalm 26:12a)
d) In the congregation I will bless the LORD   (Psalm 26:12b)
