CALLING UPON THE LORD

1. Praying was an integral part of David’s Life   (Psalm 4:1)

a) Remembering how God relieved him in the past
b) Praying to God in the present time of distress
c) At times, pleading the mercy of the Lord

2. The current situation   (Psalm 4:2)

a) Problems with people (Termed “sons of men”)
b) Turning David’s glory to shame
c) Love of worthlessness and falsehood among these sons of men

3. Foundational faith   (Psalm 4:3)

a) God has set apart for Himself he who is godly
b) He will hear the prayers of the godly offered to Him

4. Personal Check   (Psalm 4:4a)

a) Check anger
b) Check sin

5. Practice of Meditation   (Psalm 4:4b)

a) Meditate within your own hear’
b) Be still

6. Trusting in the LORD   (Psalm 4:5)

a) Offering the sacrifices of righteousness
b) Putting trust in the LORD

7. Doubts of People   (Psalm 4:6)

a) Who will show us any good?
b) These doubts could be voiced by the companions of David
c) They have doubts that praying is enough

8. Focus on Trust in the LORD   (Psalm 4:7)

a) Praying that God would lift up His countenance upon the godly
b) Appreciating the great gladness felt in the heart

9. Trust in the LORD confirmed   (Psalm 4:8)

a) Lying down to sleep
b) Able to have peace of heart and mind
c) The LORD will protect and give safety
