1. The Unintentional Sin

2. The Presumptuous Sin (Intentional)

THE UNINTENTIONAL SIN

1. The commandments of the Lord are broken

a) The laws are not observed   (Numbers 15:22)
b) Without the knowledge of the congregation   (Numbers 15:24)

2. Atonement for the unintentional sin

a) Atonement may be made   (Numbers 15:25)
b) The priest shall make atonement   (Numbers 15:25)
c) The congregation will be forgiven   (Numbers 15:25)

3. Offerings

a) Sin offering   (Numbers 15:25)
b) Burnt offering   (Numbers 15:24-25)
c) Grain offering   (Numbers 15:24)
d) Drink offering   (Numbers 15:24)

4. One law

a) For Israel
b) For the stranger who dwells among them   (Numbers 15:26)

5. Forgiveness will be given

THE PRESUMPTUOUS SIN

1. Significance of the Presumptuous sin

a) He brings reproach on the Lord   (Numbers 15:30)
b) He has despised the word of the Lord   (Numbers 15:31)
c) He breaks the law (intentionally)   (Numbers 15:31)

2. The penalty

a) He will be cut off completely
b) He is adjudged guilty

3. One law for all

a) Israel
b) The stranger who dwells among them   (Numbers 15:30)

AN EXAMPLE OF VIOLATION OF THE SABBATH LAW

1. A man was found gathering sticks on the Sabbath   (Numbers 15:32)

2. He was brought to Moses and Aaron and the congregation   (Numbers 15:33)

3. He was held in custody   (Numbers 15:34)

4. The Lord’s judgment   (Numbers 15:35-36)

a) He was sentenced to death
b) He would be stoned to death
