GLORIFYING OF GOD THE FATHER

1. Jesus was committed to glorifying the name of God

“Father, glorify Your name”   John 12:28a

2. The immediate response of the Father

a) I have glorified it
b) And will glorify it again   (John 12:28b)

3. How Jesus glorified His Father’s name

a) He gave glory to God
i) For the truths He taught
ii) For the power He exercised
iii) For the authority that He possessed
b) He faithfully did all that Father had given Him
i) He preached tirelessly
ii) He taught accurately
iii) He healed compassionately

GLORIFYING OF THE SON

1. Glorify Your Son   (John 17:1)

2. That Your Son might glorify You   (John 17:1b)

3. The concept of glorifying the Son

a) In the authority given
You have given Him authority   (John 17:2a)
b) The authority to give eternal life
Jesus gave eternal life to all who were given by the Father   (John 17:2b)
c) Glorifying God in faithfully doing His work
I have finished the work which You have given Me to do   (John 17:4)

4. Glorify Me together with Yourself with the glory which I had with You
Before the world was   (John 17:5)

a) A special and unique glory
b) A glory that is truly profound
c) A glory can never fully understand

GLORYING CHRIST AT CHRISTMAS

1. Extolling Jesus the Lord

a) As our Saviour
b) As our Shepherd
c) As our Lord
d) As our Example

2. Exalting Jesus the Lord

a) To exalt Him is to glorify Him
b) To proclaim Him is to glorify Him
c) To believe in Him and to follow Him as the Lord is to glorify Him
