Who is the Man that Fears the LORD?

THE SEARCH FOR THE WAY OF THE LORD

1. In humble prayer

a) Show me Your ways, O LORD   (Psalm 25:4a)
b) Teach me Your paths   (Psalm 25:4b)
c) Lead me in Your truth and teach me   (Psalm 25:5a)
d) On You I wait all the day   (Psalm 25:5b)

2. In awareness of prevailing wickedness

a) Enemies (of the soul)   (Psalm 25:2d)
b) They are treacherous   (Psalm 25:3b)
c) They hate with cruel hatred   (Psalm 25:19b)

3. In acute acknowledgment of sin in life

a) The sins of my youth/ transgressions   (Psalm 25:7)
b) The greatness of iniquity   (Psalm 25:11b)
c) Feelings of desolation   (Psalm 25:16)
d) Troubles of the heart   (Psalm 25:17a)
e) Distress felt keenly   (Psalm 25:17b)
f) Affliction and pain   (Psalm 25:18a)

PLEADING WITH THE LORD

1. He is the God of our salvation   (Psalm 25:5b)

2. Pleading His mercies and lovingkindness   (Psalm 25:6, 7)

3. Pleading His goodness   (Psalm 25:7c)

4. Pleading the goodness and uprightness of God   (Psalm 25:8)

5. Pleading the name of the LORD   (Psalm 25:11)

THE MAN WHO FEARS THE LORD

1. The LORD will teach him the way He chooses   (Psalm 25:12b)

2. He shall dwell in prosperity  (Psalm 25:13a)

3. His descendants shall inherit the earth   (Psalm 25:13b)

4. The secret of the LORD is with those who fear Him   (Psalm 25:14a)

5. He will show them His covenant   (Psalm 25:14bn)

A PERSONAL APPLICATION

1. Looking up to the LORD

My eyes are ever toward the LORD   (Psalm 25:15a)

2. Pleading earnestly

Turn Yourself to me, and have mercy on me   (Psalm 25:16)

3. Pleading forgiveness

Forgive all my sins   (Psalm 25:18b)

4. Deliverance

Keep my soul and deliver me   (Psalm 25:20)

5. Trust in the LORD

a) I trust in You   (Psalm 25:1a)
b) I put my trust in You   (Psalm 25:20b)

6. Waiting on the LORD

a) On You I wait all the day   (Psalm 25:5c)
b) I wait for You   (Psalm 25:21b)
