Text: Psalm 105:8-15

“HE REMEMBERS HIS COVENANT FOREVER”

 

(I) THE MARVELOUS WORKS OF GOD

1. They reveal the Nature of God

2. They teach vital truths about the Person of God

 

(II) THE COVENANTS OF GOD

1. What is a Covenant?

a) It may be compared to a treaty between God and man

b) It describes the following:-

i) God’s commitment to His word contained in the covenant

ii) His expectations concerning His covenant-people

iii) His laws

iv) His promises

v) His admonition should there be a deliberate attempt to break the Covenants


2. The Covenant with Abraham

a) This is mind in Psalm 105

b) An important observation

“He remembers His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations.” Psalm 105:8a


3. God’s regard for His covenants reveals much about Himself

a) He is the LORD God

b) He will remember His covenant

c) His covenant is His Word

d) He will be true to His word… forever

(The idea behind the phrase “a thousand generations”)

 

(III) SIGNIFICANCE TO US

1. With reference to our faith in God

2. With reference to our confidence in the Word of God

3. With reference to our trust in His covenant-word

 

(IV) CHALLENGES IN 2014

1. A greater knowledge of God’s covenant-word

2. A deeper faith in God on the basis of a deeper knowledge

3. Holding fast to this faith in God in difficult times
