THE WICKED PERSECUTION OF CHRISTIANS

1. Saul was a persecutor of Christians

2. He was “breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord” (Acts 9:1)

3. He asked for authority from the high priest to persecute Christians outside Jerusalem
(Acts 9:2)

THE SALVATION OF SAUL

Acts 9:3-9

1. Jesus met him on his way to Damascus

2. He was blind for a season

3. He was soundly converted

4. He was ministered to by Ananias

a) Baptised
b) Healed
c) Given a special prophetic word

5. The special word concerning Saul of Tarsus

a) He is a chosen vessel of Mine (Acts 9:15)
b) To bear My name (Acts 9:15)
i) Before Gentiles
ii) Before kings
iii) And the children of Israel
c) I will show him
i) How many things he must suffer
ii) For My name’s sake

FULFILLING THE LORD’S WORD

“A chosen vessel”

1. He bore witness for the Lord fruitfully

a) Founded many churches
b) Led many to faith in Christ
c) Equipped people to serve the Lord faithfully

2. He suffered much for the Lord

a) Physical ailments
b) A thorn in the flesh (2 Corinthians 12)
c) Suffered imprisonment
d) Endured much

3. He fulfilled all that the Lord said

a) He bore witness before Gentiles
b) He was the Apostle to the Gentiles
c) He bore witness before kings
d) He bore witness to the children of Israel
