THE OLD TESTAMENT

The Scriptures have much to teach us about our heritage. This doctrine is taught in both the Old and New Testaments. Let us take time to ponder the following text.

For You, O God, have heard my vows;
You have given me the heritage of those who fear Your name.

You will prolong the king’s life,
His years as many generations.

He shall abide before God forever.
Oh, prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him!

So I will sing praise to Your name forever,
That I may daily perform my vows.     Psalm 61:5-8

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

The Psalmist vowed that he would always praise God! The author of Psalm 61 was none other than David. He kept his vow to the Lord. He was the main contributor to the Book of Psalms. His compositions came up to at least half of the Book of Psalms!
